Adam Mayberry, AIA, NCARB, MRED
Architect / Managing Principal
Adam founded Mayberry Workshop out of a desire to use his background in architecture and real estate development to positively impact the communities around him. He is driven by a desire to find creative housing solutions for all people. He gravitates towards residential design because of its ability to impact people at the individual level.
Adam is especially skilled in leveraging master planning, zoning, and spatial relationships to find the highest and best use of properties. He has become a trusted partner because of his ability to help his clients reach their goals in ways they did not think possible.
Adam holds a Master of Science in Real Estate Development for Architects degree from Woodbury University San Diego and a Bachelor’s of Architecture degree from Cal Poly SLO. He serves on the San Jose Downtown Association’s Downtown Design Committee and Advocacy Committee and on the SPUR Urban Catalyst Committee. His education and 17+ years of experience make him a value add to clients big and small. When not working, Adam enjoys soaking up the sun with his wife, three daughters and Oona the Great Pyrenees/Shepherd Mix.
Aaron Van Roo
Vice President of Constructibility
With a background in construction, Aaron makes certain that buildings are getting designed with the realities of constructibility in mind. This includes an early analysis of what true construction costs will be, helping to eliminate rounds of value engineering.
His company, Mission City Construction, has a unique relationship with Mayberry Workshop. Together they offer design-build services for custom homes and commercial tenant improvements. He is an integral part of the Mayberry design team serving as project manager and providing constructibility reviews. His natural curiosity brings a level of thoroughness to the design process.
Aaron has a Bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley where he studied
Rhetoric & History, Classics, History, Business, and Civil Engineering. As he was about to embark on the LSATs he switched paths and became a project manager at a construction firm, never looking back. In his free time, he can be found with his family living life to its fullest, camping, participating in sports, hiking, boating and more.
Madison Syracuse
Junior Designer
Madison’s goal is to design residential spaces where each client feels a special connection to their home, whether it be an apartment, duplex, or single-family house. She works with clients to explore design options and then translates those ideas into drawing sets. She thoroughly enjoys turning a vision into a physical space. She pays special attention to the influence of culture and place on a building’s design.
Becoming an architect was evident to Madison from a young age. Growing up, she would envision the types of homes her toys would like to live in and draw the floor plans for them. She holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, and spent a year studying the architecture of Florence, Italy. When not at work, she enjoys making things, including pottery, furniture, and baked goods.
Jennifer Coniglio
Bookkeeping
Jennifer is an experienced bookkeeper who has worked in the finance industry for 16 years. She began her career in government accounting working with R&D companies in Southern California. She joined the architectural industry in 2020 where she has found her niche and love for the profession. Detail orientation and rigorous organization are a must when working in finance. Jennifer takes her knowledge of forensic accounting and applies it to track down every last penny.
When not balancing the accounting books, Jennifer enjoys spending time camping and going to the beach with her husband and three children, as well as their newest four-legged member, Dug the Golden Retriever.
What’s in a Name.
Mayberry Workshop’s founder, Adam, was long inspired by his Great-Grandfather and his carpentry and model-making workshop behind the family home in Massachusetts. Being community-driven, Adam likes to draw parallels with a desire to make his community a better place. Very much like the fictitious town in North Carolina by the same name and with the same ideals. Drawing on these two sources of inspiration, Mayberry Workshop was born. We are a Workshop. We iterate and explore possibilities. And enhancing community is at the heart of everything we do.
